Food Additives & Preservatives
LGH has recently diversified into the supply of industrial quantities of key food preservation agents, this in partnership with world leading merchandizers of the products, with operations in the producing countries.

Industrial Glycerin
Glycerine (or glycerine, glycerol) is a simple polyol compound. It is a colorless, odorless, viscous liquid that is used in food, pharmaceutical formulations and chemical industry like paints. Glycerol has three hydroxyl groups that are responsible for its solubility in water and its hygroscopic nature. The glycerol backbone is central to all lipids known as triglycerides. Glycerol is sweet-tasting and of low toxicity.
In foods and beverages, glycerol serves as a humectant, solvent, and sweetener, and may help preserve foods. It is also used as filler in commercially prepared low-fat foods (e. g: cookies), and as a thickening agent in liqueurs.

Citric Acid
Citric Acid is mainly used as a cidulant, flavoring agent, preservative and anti-staling agent in food and beverage industry.
It is also used as antioxidant, plasticizers and detergent in chemical, cosmetics and cleaning industries

Sodium Benzoate
Sodium Benzoate is a preservative. As a food additive, sodium benzoate has the E number E211.
It is bacterio-static and fungi-static under acidic conditions. It is most widely used in acidic foods such as salad dressings (vinegar), carbonated drinks (carbonic acid), jams and fruit juices (citric acid).
Sodium benzoate is also used as an animal food additive at up to 0.1%, according to AFCO’s official publication.
